The cast list has been announced today for Michael Sheen’s Hamlet at The Young Vic. Previews start on 28 October 2011 with opening night being 9 November 2011 running through until 21 January 2012.
Michael is joined by a cast drawn from the worlds of film, musicals, theatre and TV.

- Horatio – Hayley Carmichael
- Ophelia – Vinette Robinson
- Polonius – Michael Gould
- Laertes – Benedict Wong
- Guildenstern/Francisco – Adeel Akhtar
- Marcellus – Callum Dixon
- Barnardo – Pip Donaghy
- Rosencrantz – Eileen Walsh
There does not seem to be a listing yet for the ghostly King Hamlet, Hamlet’s dead father, but as soon as I can confirm who that is, the project page will be updated.
I presume that rehearsals started recently, as Michael was seen arriving in the UK a few days ago.
There are currently no tickets available online, however, there are supposed to be more tickets released on 27 September, so keep checking the Young Vic site for more information.

Michael Sheen confirmed for Terence Malick’s Untitled project
It has long been suspected that Michael Sheen will be appearing on screen again with his Midnight In Paris co-star, and girlfriend, Rachel McAdams. A video has surfaced on YouTube of an interview he had while in Cannes promoting Midnight In Paris, where Michael confirms this.
Well I’m very excited to be able to work with people like Woody — and Terrence Malick as well, this year. Hopefully I’ll be able to carry on working with these people whose work I love to watch.
So far, it has not been listed on IMDB, but for now, I am happy to add this to his list of projects. Hopefully, it is not another case of Michael jumping the gun like he did with Dark Shadows!
At this moment in time, the extent of Michael’s involvement in this project is unknown. As soon as I find out more, then you guys will be the first to know.
You can watch the video where he mentions working with Malick is below, as a copy has been added to the Video Library.

BBC Wales have no plans to release Passion Of Port Talbot DVD
Due to the huge popularity of the BBC Wales documentary Passion of Port Talbot, I have received many inquiries as to whether there will be a DVD release.
The documentary gave a behind the scenes look, plus the highlights, of Michael Sheen’s and National Theatre Wales’ production of Passion that was written by Owen Sheers, and performed through out Port Talbot this Easter. It was aired on BBC One Wales on 5th and 12th June 2011.
I contacted the BBC with this question, and have received the response:
There are no plans to release this programme commercially on DVD
Obviously if I get word of anything different, you guys will be the first to know.
There is however, the feature length film version of the play called A Gospel Of Us. Directed by Dave McKean, and recorded at the time of the play, this is hoped to get a release Easter 2012.
Few Options has been sold to Canada, Middle East & South Africa
It has been reported on Few Options’ Facebook Page that while at Cannes, the project has been sold to Canada, Middle East and South Africa, with a US deal to follow shortly. Also, DVD rights were sold to China.
Few Options is a film written and directed by George Pappy, and is about a man released from prison after 22 years. It features a brief cameo from Michael Sheen as a florist.
Midnight In Paris has success at the Box Office
It seems that the media claim, that Woody Allen has returned to form with Midnight In Paris, is indeed true.
Despite being released in only 6 cities throughout the US this weekend, it has pulled in a respectful $579,000[1]. This follows recent success in France and Spain, where it was released shortly after it opened the Cannes Film Festival, taking $5.7M over the two countries[2].
There is little news about a more widespread release as yet. A few countries are listed on IMDB, but still no news yet for the UK.
Date now uncertain for Passion Of Port Talbot
Following a few articles found on the web, I previously reported that the BBC documentary ‘Passion Of Port Talbot’ will be aired on BBC One Wales on 29 May with part 2 following on 5 June.
However, when checking the schedule yesterday, I noticed that it does not appear. I contacted BBC Wales who have kindly replied to say that this will now be shown at an, as yet, undetermined date in June. I am sure that it will only be delayed by a week or two, but it is still a little frustrating for those of us, myself included, that were unable to attend the event.
I will keep checking the schedules as it is updated every day and will of course let you know as soon as a definite date is announced. By the way – if you are in Wales, and notice an advert for the programme, I would be oh-so-grateful if you can get in touch.
