Stars unite to support Newport drama festival
Michael Sheen, Helena Bonham Carter and Dame Judi Dench are among the famous names supporting a golf-themed drama festival starting in Newport tomorrow.
The Hole in One Act Play Festival, which was inspired by the Ryder Cup being held in the city, features four new plays and has generated messages of support from leading actors.
The one-act plays were chosen to appear in the festival by Welsh playwright Frank Vickery, after over 40 plays were entered into a competition to find new writing talent.
One play features a couch potato who is given a free virtual reality golf session and another tells the tale of the flagging fortunes of a crazy golf course.
The competition was organised by the Newport Playgoers and member Phil Mansell.
The festival is at the Dolman Theatre from October 12 to 16 and tickets can be booked by calling 01633 263670 or visiting dolman-theatre.co.uk
