So it is the time of year for some of the industy’s prestigious awards to start announcing their nominees.  Michael has already done well this year by scooping Best Actor for both GQ and The Variety Club.

Let us hope his luck continues as it has been announced that he has been nominated as Best Actor, once again for The Damned United, by the International Press Academy.  See here for their full list of nominees. The successful nominees will be announced on December 20th

Keep your eyes peeled on the Hollywood Foreign Press Awards site, as they will be releasing their nominations for Golden Globes on December 15th.  You can see their nominations here after the 15th, and the awards will be presented 17th January 2010.

The Golden Globes are considered a reasonable indication of Oscar winners so you can be sure we will be keeping our eye on this and hope our boy makes off with some serious hardware this award season.

Entertainment Weekly interview Michael Sheen where they ask why he choose to do a project like New Moon when he is more familiar for roles in weightier dramas such as The Queen and Frost Nixon.

“I knew about the whole Twilight thing, primarily through my daughter, who’s 11 and is a big fan of the books. She’s read the books many, many times.”

You are probably wondering why we are posting about the great Sir David Frost?  It is more to do with the speach from his award presenter that makes this relevant, and an amusing story I thought I would share.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair made a video tribute to Sir David, joking that one thing they share in common is being played by actor Michael Sheen in films -  although, he added: “Personally I think he was better as you”.
